There is a lot of talk about spiritual quest and spiritual growth. But a lot of times we actually do not understand spirituality at all. In fact it is a journey that opens up to you one step at a time. A lot of us feel spirituality is all about the ability to look into the future and make predictions, or get very intuitive… we actually associate spirituality with having some mystical powers. Many of us also believe spirituality to be about being very religious. But then what is spirituality?
For me Spirituality is a journey.. a journey to get back in touch with our true self. And for this there are no fixed routes or paths. Everyone has his/her own path because each one has his/her own journey towards self-realization. Where I am now in my journey is not the same place as yours. We all actually are on a spiritual journey. It’s just that some of us are aware and work towards our purpose of life, while some of us just go on unaware of any spiritual aspect to our life. What we should understand is not matter where we are or what path we take, we will reach there…
A lot of people also think that because you are spiritual, life stops giving you challenges… and if you do have challenges in your life, they start questioning your spiritual journey. Spirituality is about how you live your life to its full potential.
When I consciously started my spiritual journey, everyone thought I have gone crazy. Everyone questioned “why” or “something must be wrong” etc. etc. I was too young to trend this path…
Spirituality does not mean giving up on the worldly material things and become a monk (that is what a lot of us believe… a spiritual person need to live a monk’s life)… Spirituality is about seeking the ‘Truth’. It is about understanding life beyond material things on this physical realm. Spirituality is about getting to the real self and knowing and connecting to your true self. Spirituality is also not about what is right and what is wrong. What is right for me may not be right for you. Spirituality is about being true and authentic.
Spirituality is just about YOU! It is about your thoughts and actions. It is a way of life…. It is about being open to all and accepting everything and enjoying everything. Spirituality is about understanding that duality does not exist and that we are one with the universe. Spirituality is about being aware and living your truth. We all co-exist and co-create. We all come from the same source so we all have the same energy and potential. We may be standing at different points of our journey but we are all heading towards the same goal. And we all will reach there.
The current Dalai Lama says “spirituality is concerned with those qualities of the human spirit – such as love and compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, contentment, a sense of responsibility, a sense of harmony – which brings happiness to both self and others…”
Spirituality is not about having no problems or obstacles.. spirituality is about reaching a point where nothing affects your emotional balance at all and Peace prevails. There is grounding and there is stability and there is oneness with everything.
For me till now Spirituality has been a journey of self discovery. Who I am? What am I here for? What is the purpose of my life? and many more… And as you get in touch with your own self, your fears are gone. The true you will not fear.
In my journey things have been revealed slowly and when the time is right. So if I don’t have an answer for something, means the time is not right and I might not understand the thing properly. So I wait. But as I move further, and with more experience, pieces start to fall in place and the puzzle kind of becomes clear. The understanding of what is love compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness… it is all becoming clearer with each experience that life offers. It’s a journey of learning that will go on for this life and more.. I am grateful for all the experiences – some beautiful and some not so beautiful, but each one had a lesson to teach. Will share more as we go ahead and will keep you updated, hoping that insights into my journey will help you realize yours …
Till then, have a great spiritual journey!!!
